Michel Roux arrived in England in 1967 with his brother Albert and together over many years they have successfully transformed the gastronomic scene. The Waterside Inn at Bray has become legendary since opening in 1972 and reaped a constellation of Michelin Stars.  Michel is one of only three chefs in the UK to gain 3 Stars which he has retained since 1985 and is the envy of many. In 2002 to add to his many other distinguished awards the Queen granted Michel an honorary OBE and in 2004 he was proud to accept Le Chevalier de la Légion d’Honneur in France.  His books sell worldwide and he has achieved iconic status in the world of culinary arts.

Since 1984 the Roux Scholarship has become the ultimate British competition for chefs which many aspire to.

Michel spends his time now in different parts of the world doing mastrclasses, lectures and promoting the Waterside Inn. Michel’s son Alain has taken over the helm at The Waterside where he is now chef Patron.
