Gary Rhodes OBE

Twenty-five years after graduating from Thanet Technical College Gary Rhodes is the undoubted ambassador for British cuisine. Gary’s legendary dedication to his craft and re-introduction to the nation of our own rich gastronomic heritage has ensured that he is revered by his peers as truly ‘The Chef’s Chef’.

At the tender age of 13 he cooked his first meal - a Sunday roast for the family - and thus began the journey on the road to a career as chef, restaurateur and author.

Success in his working life was swift and following work both at home and abroad he gained his first Michelin Star at the age of 26.  There have been five more stars since then awarded to his collection of successful restaurants and many highly acclaimed TV series.  His books sell worldwide, he has cooked on every continent for royalty, prime ministers and presidents but he readily concedes that the star of the show is always the food.

Gary was awarded OBE by the Queen in 2006 and lives in Kent with his wife Jennie and two small sons.
