Foundation Trustee Fred Watt follows in the footsteps of Cheryl Cole and Ronan Keating!

Trustee Fred Watt is swapping his city business suit for his climbing gear as he prepares to ascend the world’s highest free-standing mountain, Mount Kilimanjaro, in aid of The Nicholls Spinal Injury Foundation.

Fred will be following in the footsteps of Cheryl Cole, Chris Moyles, Fearne Cotton and Ronan Keating who last year climbed the 19,340 feet for Comic Relief.

And it would seem Fred, who will be making the attempt alongside his colleagues from the private equity firm CVC, still retains a sense of humour despite the enormity of the adventure ahead:

“Having been in training for this fantastic climb for some weeks now I wish I could say it was getting easier – but it isn’t! However, I hope that, as I near the summit, the thought of raising thousands of pounds to help the work of this wonderful charity, will give me the strength and courage to keep putting one foot in front of the other. It’s really quite simple: I’m climbing so that one day thousands of others might walk again and so every pound that sponsors can give will help towards that aim.”

The attempt, which begins on June 27th, is expected to take ten days and it is Fred’s hope to raise a total of £10,000 – that’s £1,000 per day – for the charity.
