David Nicholls wins top Performance Award
Congratulations to our founder David Nicholls who has been named winner of the Food and Drink category in the inaugural Performance Awards 2010.
The Awards, aimed at celebrating outstanding UK breakthrough performance across a number of categories including music, education and sport, were presented in London on Thursday 27th May and hosted by TV presenter and journalist Kate Silverton.
David, who was recognised for his tireless work in raising funds to help fund research into finding a cure for spinal injury, was chosen by a panel of judges including esteemed educationalist Dame Sheila Wallis, author and business coach Sir John Whitmore and award-winning chef Marcus Wareing, and chaired by double Olympic gold medallist Lord Coe.
Said David “Just being nominated for the Performance Awards was in itself very special. I feel very humbled and proud that on the inaugural occasion of the awards I was extremely fortunate to be awarded the Diageo performance award for Food and Drink.
“Due to circumstances that led Daniel, my son, to become paralysed for doing nothing more than enjoying a swim during his gap year, I value any opportunity to raise the awareness of the charity and to make people aware that the scientists are so close to one day being able to make the impossible a reality. That is to make paralysed people walk again”
